You're probably right. When I saw this story I remembered how a few months ago the media was really hammering the mass shooting stories for several weeks, but then suddenly stopped. They were probably doing a test run of broadcasting anti-gun stories and then doing polls to see how the people were responding. They probably saw that people weren't influenced and were more pro-gun than ever and were still buying more guns and ammo than ever.

Perhaps they're going to give it another try from a different emotional angle. Maybe they want to use this to divert attention and debate away from the Trotskyite being nominated to the supreme court.
